How to Choose Weight Training Machines

Published

on

When creating your own gym, you will need to think about the type of machines that you include. There are different options, including single fitness machines, multi-gyms, cardiovascular machines, and having a free weights section. The type of machines that you choose will depend on a number of factors, including the budget you have, the type of training that you want to do, and the cost of any repairs.

Determine Your Budget

Before looking into any of the machines available, you need to determine your budget. Some exercise machines, especially the more modern-day machines, are likely to cost in the hundreds if not thousands of dollars. This could mean that you have to set up your home gym slowly as you are able to build up the fund or will have to sacrifice something for something else. If you have a budget, you will be able to look for reasonably priced machines and training materials to help you build the body for your dreams.

Your budget will affect where you start searching. If you have a limited budget, you will need to look into second-hand products. However, these are likely to need more repairs and you will not have the warranty. There are also discount stores online or the option of buying overseas. However, you may find that it is better to save up over time and buy new ones. You will have more protection should the electronics breakdown and you will find something that offers all the settings that you need.

The Type of Training

What type of training do you want to do? This will directly affect the type of machines that you will be looking for as part of your home gym. For example, if you want to build muscle, there is no point in looking for treadmills and cross trainers; you will need to look for weight training machines. There are a variety of machines falling under the categories of weight training and cardiovascular machines so you will also need to think about the area of your body that you want to work on most and the pros and cons of each machine.

Do you really want a treadmill? These are excellent for indoor running but there is also the option or running outside. You could save money by not bothering with a treadmill and spend the money on weight training machines, rowing machines, or free weights.

Which area of your body do you want to build muscle on more? There are machines specific for the legs and ones specific for the arms and stomach.

The Machine Repairs

How much money will it take to repair the machines in the future? If you buy second-hand, as already stated, you will need to repair breakdowns with your own money. However, if you buy from new, you will have a warranty should something go wrong within a set amount of time – usually between one and ten years.

Look into the cost of the machine repairs over time. Electronic machines, such as treadmills and cycle machines are more likely to cost more to repair than non-electronic machines. This is due to the parts that need to be purchased to fix. You will also need to research the machines to find out how often they breakdown.

Setting up a home gym is a great way to get fit and lose weight. When you look into the machines, consider the amount of money that you have and the type of machines that you really need. This will help find something perfect for your needs to avoid wasting money over the long term.
