Home Remedies to Minimize Large PoresAging is a natural process, although one that many of us do our best to slow down to the best of our abilities. The way our skin looks and feels is one of the biggest drawbacks of getting older. Unless you are blessed with perfect skin you have probably been frustrated a few times with how your skin ages. One of the biggest concerns of many is the look of enlarged pores. Not only do these large, open pores create flaws on our canvas of skin they are also a major factor in acne – even into our adult years. Open pores are the perfect hiding spot for oil, dirt and grime to collect and clog your skin’s pores to create blemishes.

So now that we can all agree that enlarged pores are not beneficial for healthy skin, lets discuss how to minimize them. While there are a number of over-the-counter medications that claim to help reduce the size of enlarged pores and even medical treatments, these can be costly and also use a lot of unnatural ingredients to accomplish minimal results. Instead try these low-cost, natural home remedies that may produce similar, if not better, results as to those high-priced treatments.

Wash Your Face
Washing your face is probably the most basic skin-care advice we can give and something you are probably already doing. Washing your face with a mild cleanser helps remove surface dirt and oil so they do not clog your pores. It is recommended you wash your face twice a day. The key is to combine the following natural steps to your daily face washing to create a complete skin care regimen to help reduce the size of your pores.
Use Toner
Toner is a topical liquid that drives deeper into your skin to remove oil and dirt that washing your face may have missed. A wonderful natural toner is lemon juice. This acidic treatment not only helps remove the dirt and grime your face collects, it also works to tighten and close up your pores to help reduce the appearance in their size. If you are allergic to lemon juice or cannot stand the smell, other great toners are aloe vera gel, tomato juice combined with buttermilk, peach, papaya and orange juices and even witch hazel. You can use each of these ingredients individually or combine a few to create a natural, super-powerd toner perfect for your skin type.
Moisturizer is one of the most important factors of maintaining beautiful skin. This can be a hard concept to accept, especially if you have oily skin. Those cursed with this skin usually feel moisturizing is the last thing they want to do since their skin is constantly in an oily state, but moisturizer is just what they need. Often times oily skin is the body’s way of compensating for lack of moisture. So you can condition your skin to reduce the amount of oil it produces by moisturizing daily. Natural moisturizer is, you guessed it oils. Olive oil and castor oil are great moisturizers to apply to your skin. Pour a small amount of the oils (2 parts olive oil to 1 part castor oil) and gently massage into your skin. Let the oils soak into your skin and place a steaming hot cloth over your skin which will open your pores and let the moisture soak in even more. Once the steam cools you can wipe off excess oil. Do this twice a day after washing and toning your face, and after time you will notice your skin producing less oil.

The above natural treatments should be done daily to keep your skin in tip-top shape, but there are also a few other home treatments you can do to give your skin a boost.

Exfoliating is a great way to scrub away dead skin and other impurities to leave your face fresh and glowing. Natural exfoliating products you can use are ground oatmeal or almond paste combined with baking soda and lemon juice. If the smell of the above ingredients bothers you, you can also make a sugar scrub by combining olive oil, honey, lemon juice and sugar crystals. Whichever scrub your prefer, take your exfoliating paste and massage in a circular motion on your dry face for a few minutes then wash off with warm water.
Face Masks
Masks are another way to give your face a treat. Natural masks that work wonders are a milk magnesia mask, simply apply milk magnesia on your face for 20 minutes and wash off. Egg whites is another great mask that will tighten and reduce your pore size. Beat the egg whites and leave on your face for 20 minutes and rinse.
