How To Exfoliate Your Skin For A Youthful Look

Published

on

If you’ve never exfoliated your skin before, you should know that it is very important when it comes to having fresh and young appearing skin. What exfoliation does is it removes all the dead skin cells that are lying on your skin’s surface.

This can cause your skin to appear older and not nearly as radiant as it can look without them.

If you want young skin, make exfoliation a part of a weekly skin routine. Meaning, you only need to do this about 1-2 times a week but no more than that. Here is a step by step guide that will help you get the best skin appearance of your life!

What You Need to Exfoliate Your Skin
When you are exfoliating your skin, you will need some very important tools. Such as:

• Loofah (You can also use exfoliating gloves or a body brush)
• Exfoliating cleanser
• Pumice stone
Body lotion & moisturizer

Step By Step Guide to Exfoliate Your Skin

Step #1: Cleanse Your Skin
Before you exfoliate your skin, it’s important that you cleanse your skin to remove any dirt, grime, or any other particles that are lying on the surface of your skin. The exfoliation that you are going to do to your skin will work much better on clean and refreshed skin. It’s important to remove all makeup as well.

You don’t need to spend a lot of money on a good facial cleanser, you can easily find one that is under $20 and will still work great on your skin. If you have dry skin, you want to choose a cleanser that is more creamy as it has more moisturizer in it. If you suffer from oily skin, it’s best to use a cleanser that is more clear.

You don’t want to cleanse your skin too often. This will take away very important nutrients that your skin needs. You can clean your skin nightly to remove any products that you applied to your face earlier in the day such as makeup or sunscreen. You don’t want any products clogging your pores creating many skin problems that will take a long amount of time to treat in the long run.

Step #2: Shower
You can do this before or after you cleanse your face, it’s really up to you. It’s good to use very hot water when you shower, the steam will open up your pores very well which is what you want. You want to be able to get deep into your pores to ensure that you are removing as much dead skin and dirt as much as possible.

Step #3: Pumice Your Skin
If you have any rough spots and calluses on your skin, you should use your pumice to remove them. You can always use a mixture of milk and warm water for about thirty minutes before you take a shower. This will work great for those who are suffering from extreme roughness.

Step #4: Start Exfoliating!
You can start using your exfoliating cleanser by applying it to your loofah or your exfoliating gloves. Start by scrubbing your skin in a circular motion. Start at your feet and work your way up the body. The skin around your bikini area is very sensitive so it’s very important that you don’t scrub too hard. In the areas that are harder to reach, you can use a body brush. This can be for areas such as your back area.

When you are exfoliating your face, be sure to avoid your eyes and mouth. These areas are sensitive and it can be dangerous to get the scrub in those areas. When you are exfoliating your face, you should use a product that is specially made for the face. It will be much more gentle than the exfoliating scrub that is made for the rest of your body.

You also want to exfoliate your hands! They are the body parts that you use most, so you want to make sure that they are soft and young looking as well.

Step #5: Rinse
Rinse your body with warm water and then you will need to rinse with the coldest water that you can stand using. This will close your pores back up rather than leaving them open and exposed to particles in the air.

Step #6: Moisturize
As soon as you are done with rinsing your body in the shower, apply your moisturizer. Your skin is much more absorbent when it is wet which means that it will take in the moisturizer a lot better than if you were to wait for your skin to dry. Exfoliating dries out your skin so it’s very important to keep it hydrated!
