Cosmetic surgery has been on the rise in recent time which may range from teeth whitening to shaping. Everyone wants to have a beautiful smile that brightens up the room. For some people, it may be because of repairs after accidents. For others, it may be to boost your confidence. Whichever your reason may be, it’s good to have a good smile on your face and cosmetic dentistry is what you need to keep that smile! The following are types of cosmetic dentistry you can look into.

Teeth whitening

Your teeth tend to become discolored after a long period. This especially happens to smokers or those who tend to consume certain foods or beverages such as coffee. The dentists can decide to use a chemical process and bleach your teeth using two procedures. One is through the in-office procedure or provides a system you can apply or use at home. He in-office procedure can take about 1-2 hours of your time since it involves a dentist creating a mouthpiece tray that will contain the required number of solutions that can be able to reach your teeth.

Bonding

This is a dental procedure that aims to reduce the amount of spacing between your teeth. This space may be as a result of being chipped, cracked or broken. Bonding can also be used to fill small cavities or where the root of your tooth is being exposed. This process is a short process which can be finished in the office through the application of an etching solution accompanied by tooth-colored materials. This is not the best type of restoration since it is prone to being stained or chipping.

Veneers

These are custom made shells that are made of porcelain and are used to cover the front sides of the teeth to change the color of the teeth. They are not prone to chipping and therefore will last longer compared to bonding. Veneers are appropriate for teeth that have space between them, have been chipped, stained permanently, poorly shaped or crooked.

Enamel shaping and contouring

This is a procedure that involves the removal or contouring the dental enamel to improve how your teeth look. It is a procedure that can easily be combined with bonding. Contouring can be applied when correcting overlapping teeth, crooked teeth, chipped teeth and minor bite problems. For one to be eligible, for this procedure, they should have normal and healthy teeth.

Braces

Braces can be used by people of all ages and are very common. They can improve how your teeth look like especially if they are crooked or crowded. They can also be used to correct the positioning of the jaw as well as jaw joint disorders. Braces exert pressure on the teeth causing them to reposition. This may take months or longer depending on the patient. The dentists can achieve through bonding of the metal brackets or plastic brackets to your teeth. These brackets will then guide the teeth back to their correct position.
