Curing Yeast Infection by Using Yogurt
Naturally, the body has friendly bacteria in it, but there are harmful bacteria as well. The good bacteria play a huge role when it comes to preventing the excessive growth of the Candida fungus. In the case of an acid imbalance, a decrease in the number of good bacteria occurs, and the number of harmful bacteria increases. Yogurt, on the other hand, contains a high amount of Lactobacillus acidophilus, which is known as good bacteria for the body. The Lactobacilli coming from yogurt will interact with the sugar that feeds the Candida albicans that cause it to grow.
Sugar goes through fermentation under the influence of bacteria, and this will then be converted to lactic acid that can produce hydrogen peroxide in the process. Hydrogen peroxide will then create a favorable environment for Candida fungus. Yogurt is helpful as it can help eradicate the root cause of the problem by restoring the level of pH and controlling fungus growth. That is the reason why yogurt is highly advised for individuals suffering from yeast infection.
Curing Yeast Infection
There are two different ways on how you can use yogurt to treat yeast infection – internal use and external use.
For Internal Use
When suffering from yeast infection, make sure that you include yogurt into your daily diet. Consume yogurt before a meal to destroy Candida fungus inside your intestines. Take note that yogurt cannot only help you cure yeast infection, but it can also help control fungal growth in various parts of the body. Acid imbalance can be rectified by consuming yogurt, thus resulting in well-controlled fungal growth and relief for the symptoms of the condition.
For External Use
Candida fungus proliferates in damp and warm areas of the body, such as the genitals, underarms, and in between the fingers and toes. To cure the condition, apply yogurt on the affected pars of the body, leave it for at least an hour before wiping it off. You can repeat this at least three times a day for one week or until the infection subsides. In case of a serious infection, you can leave the yogurt on the affected area overnight before washing it off to make sure that it kills all the fungus within that area.
For women who are suffering from vaginal yeast infection, yogurt can also be used but in a different way. To obtain relief from the symptoms of the condition using yogurt, the first thing that you have to do is to freeze it. Dip a tampon into it and insert it inside the vaginal tract. Applying yogurt on the outer portion of the vagina can be helpful as well, but make sure to leave it on overnight. Remove the tampon next morning and rinse the area with clean water. This should be done for three consecutive nights or until the infection is eliminated.
As for the yogurt that you can use, you can opt for homemade yogurt, or you can get one from your local store. When purchasing yogurt, make sure that you choose for the one that is plain and unsweetened. Read the labels properly and ensure that it contains active live cultures. In case the condition does not improve after using yogurt, it would be best to consult a physician instead of further diagnosis of the condition.
Yeast infection is a common condition, especially for women. In case you are experiencing the same situation, make sure that you consult your physician immediately.
