Coffee And Productivity



There has been many a discussion about increasing productivity in the workplace and there has also been much conflicting advice. There have been many articles stating that we should cut down on our coffee consumption at work and instead switch to water if you wish to be more productive… but is this true?

Coffee is a stimulant. FACT.

There is no getting away from that, it is the truth and any stimulant will help to keep an active mind and body in any individual. Businesses all over the UK and world are fuelled by the brown stuff and not only does it increase output and performance, but it also tastes pretty good too!

We’re not talking about a quick cup of supermarket branded instant coffee here, however! We are talking about the good stuff. An espresso, a cappuccino, an Americano, damn it, a double espresso! Whatever your favorite style of coffee is your choice but make sure it’s got a proper shot or two of espresso right at its heart. Delicious and a great pick me up at any time, it is no wonder so many people say they don’t feel truly awake until their first cup of proper coffee in a morning.

You only need to take a look at the success of the high street coffee shop to see the true success that a great cup of coffee enjoys. Coffee is the foundation of great productivity and creativity, both in the busy workplace and in the home. It is a reason to get up from our desks, take a break, ponder over any problems, and relax. Even if it’s only for a few minutes, it can make all the difference, helping to reset the balance, calm nerves, and clear our fuddled minds.

So why is coffee such a superpower?

Well not only does coffee taste fantastic, but it is also great at boosting productivity thanks to it being jammed full of rich caffeine to get the blood pumping. Not only this but coffee is rich in antioxidants too which means it offers cleansing and protection for your weary body.

Coffee reduces the risk of mortality – A recent five-year study showed that men who drank 2 to 3 cups of coffee a day had a reduced mortality risk of 10%. The figures were slightly higher in women.

Coffee protects against cancer – Coffee has long been associated with a lower risk of prostate, lung, pancreatic, stomach, and breast cancer. Coffee lowers oxidative stress and helps the liver to metabolize estrogen.

Coffee lowers the risk of heart disease – Caffeine found in coffee has shown to physically improve the health of blood vessels as it increases the nitric oxide in the endothelium. Coffee also helps to support healthy arterial pressure and lowers blood pressure long term.

Coffee really is a superfood, or should that be a super drink! With so many more benefits such as lowering cholesterol, improving body composition, burning fat, increasing power and performance, speeding recovery… there’s so much to discover about the humble coffee bean.
