Little Black Dress Workout: Workouts to Get into Your Little Black Dress This Season
In 2010, the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Service Administration’s article “Overweight and Obesity,” showed that 62.1 percent of women over the age of 18 in the United States were overweight. This number might be by just a few pounds, or it could border on obesity. Whatever the case may be, you simply need to fit into that little black dress. Some say that the holiday season is when people pack on the pounds, but you noticed that those margaritas and fish tacos from the summer still seem to be hanging around in your thighs. Try these workouts to shed that extra weight.
Zumba
Taking the country by storm, Zumba classes are popping up all over the place. Many gyms offer such classes on a regular basis, and other individuals find themselves dancing away in church basements. Quite a few charities hold Zumba-thons to raise money for a particular event. Perhaps you are not the best dancer in the world, and you’re a little bit embarrassed to shake your hips in front of a crowd of people. Fortunately for you, plenty of Zumba DVDs exist that you can do by yourself at home.
While some ladies prefer to do all of their working out alone, others get bored very easily. If this latter description fits you perfectly, consider enrolling in a team sport with friends. Some women shy away when they think of running down the court with a basketball or trying to throw a pitch; however, many communities have recreational sports clubs. Such clubs allow people of all skill levels to participate without worry. If such programs do not exist in your town, then you could look into enrolling in some tennis lessons with your group of best girlfriends.
Yoga
Now, let’s say that you only have maybe a pound or two to lose in order to fit into that little black dress, or perhaps you just need to be toned in order to look your best in it. If that is the case, consider yoga. This practice helps to calm both your body and your mind, so you might have extra energy for some more vigorous workouts later on in the day. Again, yoga will likely not help you to drop a lot of weight, but it can assist you in looking longer, leaner, and more healthy in general.
Unfortunately, we live in a world that seems to be growing scarier and scarier by the day. Therefore, it’s important for women to have a sense of how to protect themselves, and enrolling in a martial arts class is just the way to learn these skills. On top of acquiring the necessary skills to defend one’s self, participants in these programs are also losing weight and toning up their bodies. Martial arts requires a lot of physical energy and physical skill, so no doubt exists that women will come out of the program looking leaner than they did in the past.
