Natural workout supplements that actually work

You have committed to becoming your best self. You are going to bed at a reasonable time. You are making sure you take time to spend quality time with your spouse. You signed up for a healthy snack delivery service, and now you are working out at the gym three days a week. Since you are in the process of improving your life, it is now time to get the biggest bang for your buck. Since you are working out, make sure you are eating the right food to fuel your workout.

Pre-workout routine

You think about what you are going to wear while working out, but you may not be thinking about how you are preparing your body for exercise. Like every machine, your body needs fuel to work. You need to decide- should I get my fuel from a shaker bottle or a snack?

What to look for in a supplement

Yes, you could go to the health food store or peruse the supplement aisle at your grocery store. There is an abundance of products marketed as pre-workout supplements. Look for supplements that include creatine, which can increase muscle mass, strength, and performance.

Also, consider looking for a supplement that includes caffeine. Caffeine stimulates alertness and makes you feel less tired. Citrulline, although this sounds like a manufactured substance, occurs naturally in the body. It increases blood flow to body tissues. Finally, look for sodium bicarbonate on the product’s list of ingredients. Also known as baking soda, it can fight against acid buildup in the body.

What to look for in a pre-workout snack

Focus on foods that are high in carbs. This does not mean you have permission to grab a Snickers bar on the way to the gym. Instead, a pre-workout snack should be made up of healthy carbs, moderate in protein, and low in fat and fiber.

Examples of foods

Try plain Greek yogurt with fruit and granola. Make sure your yogurt is plain instead of fruit-flavored to cut down on your sugar consumption. Also, check the sugar content and ingredients for your granola. There’s healthy granola, and then there’s a bunch of brown sugar with a few oat clusters. Make sure yours has nuts, seeds, and wholesome grains.

Of course, if you have some available, choose berries to top your treat. Blueberries are a superfood, so what better fruit is there to eat before your Zumba class?

Scan the crowd in at any sporting event these days, and you will see mothers passing around containers of energy balls to swimmers getting ready to step up on the block. There is an abundance of different recipes for these online, and most of them do not require you to turn on your oven.

Do you not have time to go to the grocery store to purchase ingredients for energy bites, and your berries have bit it in the fridge? Make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to eat as your pre-workout snack. Use whole-grain bread and natural nut spread.

Congrats to you for taking control of your life by eating healthy and exercising. Make sure you are eating the right foods so that your diet is working for you.
