Attractive Braces Solutions to Straighten Teeth
Looking in the mirror and seeing crooked teeth or teeth with significant gaps between them can lead to feeling self-conscious. While braces are a solution that will help straighten and improve the appearance of teeth, the traditional metal wire options are unattractive. While the conventional solution is not attractive, modern braces have more attractive solutions.
Invisible Aligners
Invisible aligners are clear, plastic trays that fit over the teeth. The trays are custom-made, and each set of trays are used for two weeks before another tray is used to adjust the spacing of the teeth.
Invisible aligners are made from clear plastic, so they are hard to see and are usually not noticeable. These trays must come out before eating and do not create complications to keeping teeth clean and hygienic because they are removed to brush and floss.
Since the invisible aligners do not require any hardware attached to the teeth, many of the potential problems that arise with other braces are eliminated. The precise nature of the aligners is an attractive feature because it does not show.
The downside of the aligners is that it does not manage severe straightening or spacing requirements. It is best for mild to moderate needs because it has limitations in how much the teeth will shift.
Lingual Braces
Lingual braces are similar to the classic braces, but they are invisible during a casual smile. The lingual braces are fitted to the back of the teeth rather than the front, though materials are usually the same as the traditional metal wire braces or have the gold plated wires for those with nickel allergies.
The positive side of lingual braces is that they are not easily visible due to the location. As a result, embarrassment is kept to a minimum.
Lingual braces are harder to clean than classic braces and will take some getting used to during speech at the beginning.
Clear Braces
Clear braces are similar to the classic braces in that they are affixed to the front of the teeth and have some wire pulling the teeth into place. Despite this similarity, it is a less conspicuous type of braces due to the materials used on the teeth.
Clear braces use either ceramic or plastic brackets that are the same color as the teeth instead of the traditional metal brackets. Depending on preferences, the wire can have ordinary metals or white wires that are less noticeable against the teeth. Like the rest of the braces, the bands provided with these ceramic and white metal solutions are also transparent so that it is not noticeable during casual conversation.
The braces are less noticeable than the traditional options, but it is affixed to the front of the teeth and can be seen when looking closely. Furthermore, the ceramic or plastic material is more brittle than traditional metal, so it is possible to see the brackets break.
Braces are a cosmetic tool that is traditionally easy to notice. With newer options available, it is no longer necessary to put up with noticeable metal wires or brackets.
