Summer Is Coming, Are You Ready?
With summer fast approaching, women everywhere are beginning to feel a nagging little panic in the pit of their stomachs thinking about putting on a bathing suit and going to the beach. If you are one of the many people who got a little too comfortable in oversized sweaters eating holiday cheesecake, it might be time to think about getting yourself back into beachwear shape.
Get Back To The Basics
The first step in getting rid of your extra winter pounds and getting back into lean and healthy shape is to clean up your diet. When the days are shorter and colder, we naturally crave more carbohydrates and fat as our bodies kick into a primal survival mode. Now that the days are getting longer and the temperature is going up, it’s time to break that cycle and start eating lighter fare, more fresh fruits, vegetables, and leaner sources of protein. The more fresh, low-calorie vegetables you eat, the fuller your stomach will be with satiating fiber.
You will be getting more of the vitamins and minerals that your body needs and your cravings for sugar, fat, and carbs will start to diminish. It’s important to be mindful of your eating habits now as snacking is sometimes more of a habit than a reaction to true hunger. This is especially true during the winter months when you might have been spending more time indoors and the holidays stretch out over weeks of time. Now is a good time to start upping your intake of water if you have been slacking on this habit. Water will not only help curb your appetite but help keep you hydrated when you start getting more exercise.
Start Moving And Get Your Exercise Every Day
If you found that your time and motivation were limited over the winter and your regular exercise routine was put on the back burner a little too often, now is the time to get moving again and get your metabolism kicked into high gear. Ease back into working out by starting with any exercise that you can work into your day. Getting outside even for just a walk to start with will get your motivation back on track and you will be ready for tougher workouts in no time. Participate in exercise programs that are new to you to add interest as well as give your muscles different moves to be challenged by. Not only will you enjoy new routines that can spice up your workouts you will start to see results that will give you the confidence to put on a bathing suit and head out for some fun in the sun.
