5 tips to have healthy teeth

With each research update, the world is becoming more and more aware of the cons of neglecting oral care.

Oral care and having healthy teeth is not always for aesthetic purposes. As per experts, looking after your oral hygiene and having healthy teeth can reduce the risk of multiple types of infections and diseases including diabetes, heart diseases, Alzheimer’s, kidney problems and even certain types of cancers.

Taking care of your teeth can also help you save money, as prevention is better than cure. But, how do you take care of your teeth?

We all know the basics, but still a lot of us have dental problems. To help you overcome such problems, given below are five tips to have healthy teeth:

  1. Brushing Properly and Regularly

Even if you are complimented on your teeth, it is essential to take the right measures daily in order to maintain your teeth’s condition because it takes a lifetime of care to achieve and sustain healthy teeth.

You must brush your teeth at least twice a day. But remember that just brushing is not important, you must know how to brush.

It is important that you take your time while brushing, covering all the parts of the mouth, including the tongue because plaque can also build up there leading to bad odor.

Experts suggest to brush for about 2 minutes and at a proper angle. Also, do not apply a lot of force on your teeth and hold the brush gently. You can also use electric toothbrushes to make the job easier.

  1. Use a Good Toothpaste

If you’re brushing regularly but with limited results than maybe it’s time to check whether you are using a quality toothpaste or not.

Do not go just for flavors, rather look for a product that contains minerals such as fluoride, calcium and phosphate. They will not only whiten your teeth but will also reduce sensitivity and help in preventing your teeth against cavities, plaque, gingivitis and bad breath.

If you have dental issues, then you can also ask your dentist for tips on the right toothpaste.

  1. Floss

Make sure to floss regularly. It helps get rid of particles stuck between your teeth that may rotten your teeth and even cause your mouth to smell.

  1. Miswak

Miswak is obtained from the tree of Salvadora Persica and is said to prevent several dental conditions including cavities, gingivitis and plaque. Moreover, it also strengthen your teeth and keeps them white.

While miswak is said to have been in existence for long, people are waking up to its benefits only now.

  1. Avoid Bad Foods and Habits

The food we eat largely impacts our dental health. You need to be very careful about your diet and avoid consuming foods that can cause damage to the teeth.

These include sugary drinks, candies, colored beverages etc. If you must consume such foods, make sure to brush right after you have them. Moreover, add healthy foods such as milk and fresh fruits in your diet. To get more information contact here Houston Sedation Dentistry.
