How fast food damages body

We are what we eat as the food that we consume breaks down into nutrients and is assimilated into our blood stream to provide energy to our bodies. Therefore it is important that we keep in mind to eat healthy so as to sustain our wellness and enjoy life at its best. One of the first steps towards leading a healthy life should include curbing junk food as it provides very low levels of nutrition and promotes obesity. There are many reasons to stop eating junk food which result in;

  1. Insulin resistance in the body
  2. High calories
  3. Increased blood pressure
  4. Breathlessness
  5. Swelling due to puffiness or bloating
  6. Depression
  7. Unpredictable spikes in blood sugar
  8. Dental distress
  9. Obesity
  10. Chronic cardiac diseases
  11. Skin related issues etc.

Disadvantages of fast food on body

  1. Malfunctioning of the cardiovascular and digestive systems

The junk food is loaded with carbs which add to the count of unrequired calories in a human body. These carbs are broken into the simplest form of sugar that is glucose by the digestive system. This glucose is later absorbed into the blood directly. Once sugar level rises in the bodies the pancreas release insulin to distribute this sugar throughout the body. Once this distribution starts the levels of glucose go down upon absorption. Once the absorption process is complete the pancreas then release glucagon which stimulate the liver into working on stored sugar. This entire process requires a certain time to keep the levels of hormones and sugar controlled naturally. However, after consumption of junk food when the blood sugar rises unexpectedly it alters the amount of hormones which can result in complications like insulin resistance or even type II diabetes.

  1. Water retention

The junk food includes high levels of sodium and thus prevents water to be flushed out of system. As a result this water starts to get stored in the body. It also causes the shrinking of the capillaries and promotes hypertension and enlargement of the heart muscles. Buildup of fluids in the body can prove to be a very serious condition especially for the patients who might be suffering from;

  1. Heart problems
  2. Cirrhosis
  3. Kidney problems

Those who eat too much of savory junk must understand that it can become a cause of;

  1. Kidney stones
  2. Kidney disease
  3. Stomach cancer and other related complications

In many countries obesity has become a national problem. Almost all of these countries have a high rate of junk food consumption. Obesity is a leading cause of multiple health related complications which can prove to be fatal if this condition remains uncontrolled.
