What exactly is the Matrix?
Matrix is the world, with which you are accustomed to. The conventional. The Narrow comfort zone, in which everything is secure because it is well known, but nothing new or remarkable doesn’t happen. The limitations, with which you have chosen to live with and you don’t dare to transgress.
The Matrix is a system of persuasions, thinking patterns, templates of behavior, which work in any one of us under one or another form.
Our ego is pushing them to us with the idea that they will protect us from the dangers of the big world and they will make our life easier, but as a side effect – these are the same limitations and barriers, which prevent us from realizing our dreams, to live at our full, to be in harmony with ourselves.
We have inherited some barriers; others we took with our education, third are the result of our social expectations, which dictate how we must live (how to look like, how to behave….) or social stereotypes as which is right, acceptable, good, beautiful or normal, but other we have built all alone as a protection from painful experiences. While some models are rather necessary or even useful, then others are extremely harmful, restrictive, paralyzing our development and our full life.
The usual suspects are: fears, suppressed negative emotions such as shame, guilt and anger, deeply rooted negative beliefs like “I don’t deserve to be happy, healthy or rich…”, “I will never be able to cope alone…” or “I am just a loser…” – the list is endless.
I will give you a simple example. People who believe that they aren’t beautiful enough, clever or valuable, most frequently attract individuals, facts and circumstances, to reaffirm their beliefs. Even if they fall into a situation, which proves the opposite, they somehow twist what happened or downplay it, so as to be in synchrony with their own beliefs and attitudes. In their world, they are not beautiful, smart or valuable; they just live in this frame.
Take a look at your life and find where something is wrong. Probably these are the spheres, in which you have negative thinking patterns. All barriers of the mind delineate a narrow space for life without development and mostly they remind us as prison walls – a prison cell to the mind and a soul cage.
Morpheus: The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work… when you go to church… when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.
Neo: What truth?
Morpheus: That you are a slave, Neo. Like everyone else you were born into bondage. Into a prison that you cannot taste or see or touch. A prison for your mind. “ The Matrix Movie
The Matrix is invisible limits of the mind: your fears, thinking models, systems of beliefs, templates of behavior, different roles and masks, unconscious defense mechanisms. Invisible prison, which you can’t smell or touch, a prison of the consciousness.
The Matrix is the status quo – the established models of thinking and behavior. In its final degree this is the individual, who lives like a “brick in the wall” of impersonal socium, or people who lost their individuality in “what person should I be” role models.
The Matrix is the convenient statistical average life of man, who lives as the way which is expected of him, instead of following the impulses of his soul. He plays the role, in which his relatives, social environment and society expect of him, instead of allowing himself to discover what is his true mission, calling or path.
The Matrix has Us
The outside world is a projection of the inside. Some people believe that their life is entirely the result of conscious decisions, but man is 90% unconscious of what he thinks, feels and makes. Deeply ingrained thinking patterns, systems of beliefs and opinions, influence the way in which we think, feel, act and create our life. You know that there is an emptiness, which you are constantly trying to fill. But do you seek it where you should to? The question is not to look around you, but to look inside you.
There are different signals, which our soul is sending to warn us that we move in unfavorable directions: from anxiety and restlessness, trough depression, health problems, diseases and life failures. The most common: dissatisfaction. Don’t take it as a punishment – this is the signal of your internal GPS, which can lead you to most complete and harmonious life as long as you are following it.
Often people don’t rely on those signals and they accept the event for an accidental or coming from the outside, instead of recognizing it as a message with a purpose for looking deeply inside their selves and releasing the thing which prevents them to be in harmony. We don’t need to wait for the signals to become screaming, the idea is to act in advance and to be free of self-sabotaging feelings, restrictive fears and emotional blockages.
Morpheus: I’m trying to free your mind, Neo. But I can only show you the door. You’re the one that has to walk through it.” The Matrix Movie
There is no one who can save us from this invisible prison which is inside us. This can be done entirely by us. It is good when there is someone to show us the path – the door, through which we can pass by and get to the true savior inside us. But remember this: you and only you can make this step.
Find a way to look deeply inside yourself and understand which thinking patterns are constructive and helpful for your growth and meaningful life, and which – destructive, robbing and mind chilling. Which models draw your path forward and which draw the narrow walls of a prison cell. Which models resonate with your own personality and which are fed of fear, the role of a victim or painful past experience. Find out if you live your life or you are refracted to be something else, that you are not.
