How to Choose the Right Face CreamEach woman is a unique individual. We vary, not only in our inner characteristics, but also in our outside attributes. We differ in many aspects, and one of these is by the skin tone or the type of skin we have.

Thankfully, dermatologists created categories that fall on the same range of skin tone or skin type to make it easier for us to choose the cosmetic products we need, such as the right face cream for us.

Your friend might be telling you how effective her face cream is on her skin, but don’t purchase that face cream just yet! You might have a different skin tone or skin type compared to your friend, and thus require a different combination of ingredients in the face cream for you.

To select the best face cream, you have to be sure of your skin tone and skin type first. Cosmetic companies such as Maybelline and Ponds provide charts and customer assistance to help you find your skin tone or type.

Oily Skin

It’s a common misconception that oily skin doesn’t require face creams since these make the face look more glowing and oily-looking.

On the contrary, oily skin also needs an appropriate face cream! If oily skin is deprived of a moisturising agent, your brain will assume that the skin is getting drier, so it will stimulate the pores in the skin to secrete more oil to self-moisturise the skin, worsening the oily skin condition by facilitating acne breakouts.

To prevent this, an oil-free moisturiser should be applied as a face cream. Oil-free moisturising face creams are less intensive than moisturising creams for dry skin.

Dry Skin

Having a dry skin means your skin has below normal moisture content, that may be caused by a lot of factors such as overexposure to the heat of the sun, poor water intake, insufficient nutrient intake, prolonged stay in an air-conditioned room, and many more.

The right face cream for people with dry skin is one that has high moisture content. Therefore, this face cream also serves as your moisturiser.

The ingredients you should look for in finding moisturising face creams include vitamin E, mineral oil, shea butter, and the like.

Combination Skin

This type of skin means that some areas are a bit oily, while others are dry. The most common oily areas include the nose, chin and forehead, also called as the T-zone.

On the other hand, areas outside the T-zone such as the cheeks are prone to dryness. For people with combination skin, the best face cream would be one that produces a matte finish and features salicylic acid at the same time.

Normal Skin

If you don’t fall under any of the skin types mentioned, then you probably have normal skin with nearly invisible pores on the surface and is soft and supple with almost zero breakouts, pimples and blemishes.

The face cream intended for the normal skin is one that has the best protection against acne infection and sun damage. Look at the ingredients and make sure that most of them are natural or organic.

RejuvaDERM offers a range of high-quality skin care products, which will give you beautiful and radiant skin.
