Your Child's Well BeingOne of the biggest stresses for parents is the fear of their child becoming sick or hurt. For parents, one of the purposed of life is to maintain the wellbeing of their children.  Parents assume their child must go to the doctor right away if they are sick or injured. Don’t always assume your child needs to be seen by a doctor when they are sick or injured. There are various natural health remedies out there that can help get your child better without seeking a doctor’s visit.

Sore Throats

A common sickness in children is sore throats. Parents jump right to the conclusion that their child has strep throat but in more than 75% of the cases the child does not. When your child starts complaining they have a sore throat the best thing to do is mix together a tablespoon of honey and lemon juice and put it in the microwave for twenty seconds. Then have your child swallow this mixture one teaspoon at a time, this will relieve the sore throat. The lemon will dry up any congestion while the honey will provide a soothing coat. This is one of the best natural health remedies.

Bug Bites

One of the most annoying things for children is bug bites.  These can become serious if a child is constantly scratching it. The best solution for bug bites is baking soda. Take a teaspoon of baking soda and mix it with just enough water to make a thick paste, and then smear it on the bites allowing it to dry. This will not only help with the itching, but the alkaline baking soda helps keep the swelling down.

Nosebleeds

No one likes a nosebleed no matter how old you are. Cayenne pepper has been used in many different cultures around the world to help stop nose bleeds. Once you have kept your child’s head upright with their nostrils pinched, then sprinkle a little bit of ground cayenne pepper on a moistened cotton swab and dab it on the inside of the nose onto the area of bleeding.

Swimmers Ear

Depending if the area is infected or not will determine if you need drops from a pediatrician. If it is a mild case however there is something you can do.  You can evaporate the water that is trapped in your child’s ear. This can be done by standing a foot away from your child and aiming a hair dryer that is on the warm setting at their ear.

Mild Swelling

They key to reducing swelling is a cucumber.  When you go to a spa they put cucumbers on your eyes to reduce puffiness, which is also a form of swelling. A slice of cool cucumber can help soothe hot and swollen skin.

Being a parent is a big responsibility which can be difficult at times but will pay off. By showing them at a young age the purpose of life and how to keep healthy, they will learn traits they can carry into adulthood.
