An Interview With Holistic Paleo Expert, Dr. Lane Sebring

in Overall Health by

Dr. Lane Sebring is a globally renowned Paleo practitioner. In this short interview, we would try to unravel some professional and personal aspects of his life. If you’ve never heard about Dr. Sebring, this brief interview may open your eyes to how the paleo lifestyle can change your health for the better!

  1. How long have you practiced Paleo nutrition?

I have been practicing Paleo nutrition for close to two decades now. Before resorting to Paleo, I was into regular medicine post my academic formalities. However, after spending quite some time practicing conventional medicine, I realized there was something missing or wrong with standard medicine’s approach to treating diseases and other health issues. That is when I started focusing more on nutrition and less on medicine.

  1. What is your medical background?

I have been in the medical field as a qualified doctor for close to two decades (18 years to be precise). I founded the Sebring Clinic and developed Paleo Pharmacy.  At the clinic, my team and I have provided and will continue to offer comprehensive healthcare treatments, with tremendous focus on herbal remedies and nutrition that have been proven to work after several years of vetting.

I completed my undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Texas. Thereafter, I went on to earn my postgraduate degree (M.D.) at Galveston’s University of Texas Medical Branch. I have also completed family medicine residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center. The desire to be an independent physician made me start my private practice.

I have also served as the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine’s board examiner. Over the years, through my constant quest for learning, I have been recognized as an anti-aging and alternative medicine expert. And I am referred to as the first doctor to have based my medical practice surrounding the Paleo diet.

  1. When did you open the Sebring Clinic?

The Sebring Clinic was opened in 1996. It’s located in Wimberley, Texas, which is halfway between Austin and San Antonio in the splendid hill county of Texas. The clinic is situated right in the center of 15 acres of wooded splendor.

  1. Who is the Sebring Clinic for?

The Sebring Clinic is basically for every individual who chooses to have natural and herb-based treatments for their ailments. Unlike conventional medicine or treatments that focus on the symptoms of a particular disease or health condition, our focus at Sebring Clinic and through Paleo as a whole is to get to the core and target the causes of a condition.

The conditions we treat at Sebring Clinic are hormonal imbalances, chronic and adrenal fatigue, hypertension, hypothyroidism, anxiety and depression, type II diabetes, osteoporosis, and chemical sensitivity, to name a few.

  1. Do you see the Paleo lifestyle getting more popular in 2017?

Yes, absolutely. People are increasingly becoming aware of eating the right food. Processed foods and beverages are primarily responsible for the majority of diseases we’ve been experiencing over the years. The Paleo lifestyle or diet helps facilitate a healthy lifestyle, which is why it’s likely to become the new way of living. Paleo lifestyle is not the only healthy way of eating. Any other diet plan or method that promotes health would also become widespread in the coming years.

  1. What drives you to help others?

That’s a fairly difficult question to answer.  I am just propagating the right way of eating and living – something that I have been doing over the years – encouraging my friends and family to adopt. I am not into social service as such. But, as a physician, I am trying to be as honest as possible. My primary objective is to encourage people take control of their health and lives by eating right – the rest will take care of itself!

  1. Lastly, any advice for someone interested in changing their lifestyle?

I don’t believe in advising people, but I can certainly offer suggestions, if I may. To anyone who’s reading this, please address problems in your lives at their roots. If there is anything that seems off, go to the root of the issue so that you can find out what’s really going on. That is what the Paleo lifestyle is all about.

Moreover, do not believe in or follow things blindly. Do your own research before getting into anything. When I was introduced to Paleo, I resorted to quite a lot of learning and exploring. I can now call myself a subject matter expert in Paleo because I set out myself to be that. Long story short, take a holistic approach towards matters and do not try to spot-fix things because that never works out.
