Summertime is almost here, which means warmer weather is hitting many places across the nation. Many people are going out to enjoy the great outdoors.

One easy way to spend more family time outside is to enjoy a picnic in the park.

There are healthy foods that you can pack into your picnic basket that can help your family’s health improve.

Avoid processed foods and foods with a lot of sugar, as these can hurt your health instead. Always choose healthy, fresh, and organic fruits plus these tips can help.

Wraps

Whole-wheat tortillas are a great way to enjoy a sandwich without all that extra carbohydrates. You can put your favorite ingredients in them, such as lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers. Wrap it up with some peanut butter or jelly and put these into fresh tortillas and they make wonderful snacks that are lightweight and easy to digest.

Wraps have lean protein and usually are low in carbohydrates, which can help improve your family’s oral health. Proteins are good for the teeth enamel. Wraps are healthy for your body and your smile, when your kids enjoy eating food they love they feel better and they will smile more.

Hummus

Hummus is a great picnic food and is very affordable. It is basically garbanzo beans olive oil and lemon. You can add different seasonings, especially if you make it at home such, as cinnamon, cayenne pepper or even sea salt. It provides a great protein to balance out your energy while you’re playing at the park.

Hummus is good with pita chips, tortilla chips or carrot sticks. Hummus has many vitamins and it is great for your figure. Your kids will enjoy the hummus especially if you put it in the picnic basket on a warm summer day.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes are great source of vitamin C, which can help improve the quality of your skin and smile. They have many ingredients inside of them that can protect your skin against damages from the sun, your children may enjoy tomatoes especially if you add it with lemon or parsley. It is good for your overall skin tone and exposure from sun.

Berries and Fruit

Eating grapes, pineapple, blueberries, strawberries, and fruit in general is a great alternative to that chips or salted food. Fruits are wonderful for anyone who’s craving something sweet. You can freeze your berries and put them into a small bag, eating frozen berries becomes a special treat for the summertime. Children love eating frozen berries because it fulfills the sweet cravings that so many people get during the hot summer days.

Lemonade

Lemonade is a great picnic treat, it’s healthy and it’s very tasty. Make sure your own lemonade is created from scratch; it is much healthier for you than the packaged lemonade you buy in the store. This is because you can add your own sweetener such as honey or natural agave syrup. Kids love lemonade and it is very good for your health and teeth.
