Can sugar-free gum prevent cavities? Chewing sugar-free gum can cleanse and protect your teeth but some research will show it is not good for you. Other studies show that it can also help prevent cavities because it increases your saliva flow in your mouth. Some research contradicts the benefits of chewing sugar-free gum to prevent cavities.

Many gum companies can claim anything that they want without actual research to prove it. Many brands actually contain additives that are dangerous and chemically poisonous to the body.

However, some additives such as xylitol, a natural sweetener, which is noted to reduce cavities that can cause bad breath, it can actually help improve your oral health, so it’s important to look at both sides of each equation.

In reality those who chew gum with this ingredient in it, do not have significantly less cavities than those who do not. Infact the research is so minimal that it is important to just practice oral health habits such as brushing your teeth every day and flossing which is by far the best way to prevent cavities.

There is no hard evidence that sugar-free gum can reduce cavities, although maybe your dentist will recommend that it is a good idea to chew it. This is only because it keeps your mouth salivated which removes bacteria and unwanted food particles.

The ability to reduce your chance of getting cavities by eating gum is actually not linked and it really doesn’t have to do with the ingredients in the gum. In fact when you visit your dentist ask them what their opinion is and they may differ but in the health industry the best way to prevent cavities is to take care of your body and it can be prevented.

There are no quick fixes when it comes to your health daily habits and practicing good oral health routines is the best way to take care of your teeth.
