6 Steps To A Great Massage

6 Steps To A Great Massage

6 Steps To A Great MassageA massage is a great way to spend time with someone special, putting them at ease with your most sensual body part, the hands.

The Agenda

Start at the base of the back and down the spine where tension lives. Use your thumbs, running them smoothly along the muscles on both sides. Legs and feet get a lot of work throughout the day from walking and standing. Don’t forget to give the ankles specific attention, working your way up the leg before returning to the ankle using tender and lengthy strokes.

Thumbs should be applied to the balls of the feet, moving to the toes, massaging the side and tops of each toe without tickling. The hands should be caressed from the top to the wrist to the fingertips. Majority of tension can be found in the neck and shoulder blades. Slow and gradual pressure should be applied to these muscles.

Now that you have a handle on the physical, it’s time to consider the overall experience. Here are six steps for giving a massage they will never forget:

1. Create Space

There’s a reason why physical therapists use comforable tables. The surface should be flat, firm and stable. Beds are great for the after party, but not necessarily for a massage. If you use it, avoid bouncing so they stay still. A great idea is to use pillows from the couch. Place the pillows on the floor. Cover with a blanket or sheet, placing pillows at the neck, knees and ankles.

2. Set the Atmosphere

Massages can be intimate and romantic. Dim the lights, turn on some relaxing music, light up the scented candles and make sure the room temperature is perfect.

3. Break Out the Oil

Even the softest hands could use a little lubrication. Oils reduce friction and make kneading, rubbing and stroking easier. Scented oils can add to the eroticism, however you want to avoid strong aromas. Warm the oil by setting the bottle in hot water.

4. Get Your Hands Dirty

You could choose a massage from a day spa or you could do the whole body or focus on one spot yourself. If there are knots in their back and shoulders, go for it. Remember to start off slowly. If they love a foot rubdown, you know what has to be done. Focus on compression (slow, careful rotation with both hands), stroking (long, gentle movement with fingers together), kneading (lift and squeeze with palms applying full contact) and friction (this is best done before using oil; deeply pressing and rubbing, loosening deep tension).

5. Communication

If you need to talk, maintain a soft tone and keep conversation light. This isn’t the time to complain about your day. Ask if there’s any area that needs particular attention. Make sure they are comfortable and enjoying every minute.

6. All the Time in the World

Even if you don’t have the time, make time for it. You need to enjoy it as well. Otherwise, your partner gets nothing out it. You’re not licensed, so don’t worry about the therapeutic aspects. Just make it an enjoyable and relaxing experience. This is about relieving stress and setting a great mood.

A good massage is performed in the right environment under relaxing circumstances. There aren’t too many people that wouldn’t appreciate having their bodies touched in a sensual and sexy manner. It’s an outstanding way to strengthen romantic connections, creating deep bonding on both an emotional and physical level. Don’t hesitate to take advantage of it!
