There are a lot of people out there that are conscious of what their hair looks like to everybody else. Nobody wants to walk around with dry and flaky hair when they are at work, at a party, or just around friends and family socializing.

Dry hair isn’t a serious problem but it will cause your hair to lose its natural shine and texture. There isn’t a person out there that would love being out in public with dull, dry hair if they can do something about it.

Most of the time dry hair is caused by excessive hair products or hair maintenance such as harsh shampoos that you use too often, hair perms, hair dyes, and blow dryers. You can also develop dry hair because of excessive exposure to sun rays, cold weather, chlorine in swimming pools, and water that has high mineral properties. Other things that can cause dry hair to develop include nutrition deficiency, medications, and certain health problems.

You know you have dry hair when your hair looks lackluster, dull, frizzy, gets easily damaged, and split ends show up often. You may also notice that when you try to style your hair it breaks easily. Sometimes there might be an underlying cause for your dry hair but most of the time you just need to find ways to regain the moisture loss in your hair.

Egg Yolks and Whites

Eggs are a popular breakfast item that is eaten by all cultures around the world. However, eggs have also been used for a long time to treat dry hair. Egg whites contain enzymes that will naturally remove the bacteria in your hair that may be causing excessive oil build up in your hair. Egg yolks will help add fats and proteins to your dry hair that will help moisten it.

To apply the egg to your dry hair you’ll need to crack it open and use an egg beater to beat the egg yolks and whites together. Wet your hair and massage the beaten eggs into your hair and scalp. Let it sit in your hair for fifteen minutes before washing out with warm water and then shampooing. Do this egg remedy two times each day for a week until moisture and sheen come back to your hair. If you want you can separate the egg yolk from the egg white and use them separately.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is packed with essential fatty acids that will help moisturize your dry and damaged hair. The olive oil will increase the strength and elasticity in your hair while giving your hair a nourishing relief. Wash your hair and leave it a little damp before applying the olive oil to your entire head of hair.

Make sure you massage your scalp and head with the oil until your entire head has been touched. Now all you have to do is put a bag over your head and secure it so you don’t get oil all over the place. Let the oil sit in your hair for at least 30 minutes before rinsing out of your hair.

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has long been used as a remedy for dry and damaged hair. The anti-fungal content of coconut oil makes it great for getting rid of and preventing dandruff. Ingredients inside coconut oil like capric acid, lauric acid, and vitamin E make it the ultimate home remedy for adding shine and protein back into your dry hair.

To use the coconut oil simply apply it directly to your clean, damp hair. If the coconut oil is in its solid form simply warm up the oil to get it in liquid form. Once you apply the oil to your head leave it in there for at least 20 minutes before rinsing out. To make this home remedy work even better heat up the oil while it’s on your head by using a hairdryer. You can also heat up the oil by covering your head with a plastic wrap or shower cap, and then wrap your head with a warm towel. When the oil is warm it will penetrate your hair and scalp more effectively.

Avocado

The avocado is packed with essential nutrients and proteins that will help rejuvenate your dry and damaged hair. Vitamins that naturally make up the avocado like vitamins E and B will help to strengthen your hair and add more shine to it. The simplest way to use avocado to treat your dry hair is to massage it directly into your hair.

Cut open the avocado and then scoop out the flesh with a spoon and mash it into a bowl. Now apply the mashed avocado to your hair and scalp and leave it in there for at least fifteen minutes. Cover your hair with a plastic wrap or shower cap and then cover it with a hot towel. The heat will help the avocado penetrate and rejuvenate your hair and scalp better. To help make the avocado conditioner more effective you can add a little coconut oil to the paste and then apply to your hair.
