Don’t Forget Sunglasses

UV rays are one of the most damaging elements to your eyes, and can lead to the development of cataracts in later years. The proper sunglasses can help protect your eyes from these UV rays during more than just extended outdoor exposure, like driving on a daily basis. Protective sunglasses don’t have to be unstylish, either. Many high-end designers offer great styles with the proper amount of UV protection.

Diet Affects Vision

A healthy diet isn’t just important for your body – it has a big effect on the health of your eyes, too. A general rule of thumb is that whatever is healthy for your body is also healthy for your eyes, but omega 3 fatty acids and vegetables with beta carotene are particularly beneficial.

Get Regular Check Ups

Last but not least, regular checks ups are one of the most important things you can do to protect your vision. Some eye conditions like cataracts develop so slowly that they are almost unnoticeable until complete blindness almost sets in. Before the age of 40, aim to visit your eye doctor at least every two years. After 40, yearly check-ups are the best decision.
