Anne Hathaway’s Sweepstakes
Although initially uncomfortable with the drastic change, Anne Hathaway now seems to have found a winning length (and she’s one Oscar richer). The Hepburn-inspired, sweeping side fringe is a look that is surprisingly easy to maintain and is perfect for if you’re trying to grow your hair out. Just be sure to eliminate any frizz with a smoothing product when wet, and brush gently using a rounded brush or your fingers.
Rihanna’s Croppiness (Love It)
In our eyes, the style chameleon looks perfect at any length, but there’s something about RiRi’s dark, choppy elfin crop that really shows off her beautiful face. If you want a minimum-fuss do with maximum impact (and you’ve got killer cheekbones like Ms. Fenty), this is the way forward. Despite its drama, the short but natural sides keep this look office-friendly. A+ if you have dark or red hair.
Miley & Charlize’s Hollywood Buzz
It wasn’t a popular move, but Miley’s bleached cut has helped to sever her Disney image once and for all. For Charlize this wasn’t the first time, and it was for a film role, but she’s still turning back the years. With a trimmer, good products and a lot of nerve, both are doing buzz cuts better than the boys. Don’t be afraid to get a little more rough, spiking it up with gel or slicking the hair on top down with pomade. A short do can be just as versatile with the right styling and your feminine features will always shine through.
Chloe Sevigny’s Clever Cut
If any of the above seem a little too drastic, take a leaf out of Chloe’s book. The quirky actress and designer turned heads again after she ditched the undercut for a cascading, centre-parted bob. It’s a lot softer and a unique blend of eras and inspirations – think the roaring twenties mixed with a member of The Kinks. This is another style that won’t take too much time in the mornings, just make sure you’re armed with mousse to cancel any frizz. Works great if you’ve got dirty blonde hair like Chloe and it can hide a multitude of sins, especially the difficult phase of growing out a fringe and bleach or highlights.
