7 Common Cellular Cooties You Can Clean Off

Published

on

When you think about places that harbor germs, you probably think about bathrooms, kitchens, and maybe even hospitals. But, there are actually some places that are even more prone to germs, such as your cellphone. This is mainly because cellphones are not frequently cleaned.

Cellphones are definitely a breeding ground for germs. In addition to the fact that most people don’t wash their phones very often, they are also warmer than other objects, which makes it easier for germs to live. Additionally, cellphones have plenty of little nooks and crannies for germs to hide, especially the flip phones. So, take a look at some of the germs that might be hiding on your cellphone.

Cooties on Your Cellphone

It’s actually a little scary when you see the types of germs that can live on your cellphone. Here are some of the most common germs:

  • Staphlococcus: This germ is responsible for serious staph infections and sore throats.
  • Micrococcus: Although typically one of the less serious germs, Micrococcus can give you a stomach ache or headache.
  • Streptococcus: This bacteria causes a sore throat, commonly called strep throat. If you get this illness from your cellphone, you’ll have to get treated with antibiotics.

How to Prevent Cellphone Cooties

It’s probably impossible to prevent all cellphone cooties, even on the smooth, prepaid Android phones that don’t have many nooks and crannies, but there are some things you can do to reduce the amount your phone gets. For instance, don’t let anyone else handle your phone.

Any germs you introduce to your own phone already reside on your body, so you’re less likely to get sick from them. However, when other people use your phone, they introduce you to new germs. This doesn’t just go for strangers, either. Don’t let other members of your own family use your phone unless it is a necessity.

Of course, the best way to prevent the spread of germs to your cellphone is to wash your hands frequently. You can also clean your phone with some type of disinfectant, although most manufacturers recommend you don’t use anything too abrasive.

Cellphones definitely have some pretty scary germs on them, and plenty of germs that can make you feel sick. Take some precautions and clean those cooties off so you don’t have to spend time getting better in bed.
