How to be Safe Happy and Healthy This Holiday SeasonThe holidays are here and many people are on vacation for an extended weekend, which could mean more time for fun laughter and joy.

However, this time of year is also a time for more accidents more mistakes and more health problems than any other time of the year. You don’t have to fall victim to the tragedy of the season by simply taking these steps into consideration for a happy and healthy holiday season you can be safe happy and healthy.

Don’t over drink

Sure it is the holidays and you do have time off from work but over drinking is not good for your health. Indulging in alcohol could be a sign of avoiding your feelings. Perhaps you get together with your family and things become more stressful. You may lean on the alcohol and drink a little bit too much to avoid feeling your feelings are addressing the issues.

Doctors will tell you it’s important to curb your intake to one or two glasses and simply enjoy the atmosphere by drinking more water. Dentists prefer water as a beverage of choice because it helps keep your teeth clean and can remove food particles that can cause tooth decay.

Don’t overeat

The same way that you may turn to alcohol during this time of year, turning to food is not any better. People who emotionally eat or overeat during the holidays feel lethargic, guilty and frustrated. Avoid these emotions by simply practicing good healthy eating habits. Only fill your plate with small portions the more you put on your plate the more you will probably eat. Dieters will often eat less and lose more weight by doing this. You find your body is not really hungry after a small portion but usually your mind is, so ask yourself what is it you’re really hungry for? Love, attention, security, look inside yourself and ask what your needs are and what is not being met, but do leave the eggnog, and gingerbread men alone.

Don’t forget to floss your teeth

This time of year can be extra stressful and time is precious which means sometimes people forget the floss their teeth. Make sure you’re brushing your teeth everyday and flossing to remove all the food particles that can build up throughout the day. You’ll feel healthier and more connected to yourself when you take care of yourself. Do not let the holidays bum you out these steps will help you feel healthier and happier.
