Top 5 Highest Paying Hospitals for NursesThe medical industry requires nursing professionals of all types and specialties. Many healthcare facilities employ nurses including hospitals, nursing homes, and home health care organizations. The high demand for these professionals and the short supply of them drive nursing salaries. While nurses generally are a well paid lot, some obtain higher salaries than others because of job location.

Baptist Hospital and South Miami Hospital of the Baptist Health South Florida Network

Some hospitals that are known for presenting nurses with generous compensation packages belong to the Baptist Health South Florida network. These hospitals are located in and around Miami and Ft. Lauderdale Florida. They belong to communities with large percentages of high income households so the salary of the nurses reflect this demographic fact. Baptist Health South Florida is one of the largest private employers in that region.

Even though the healthcare network holds non-profit status, it has consistently brought in more revenue than its for-profit peers. It is not uncommon for nurses working within this network of hospitals to make six figure salaries. Some hospitals belonging to the Baptist Health South Florida network include Baptist hospital and South Miami hospital along with four other award-winning facilities.

Recently named one of the best regional hospitals by U.S. News and World Reports, Baptist Hospital in Miami specializes in women’s services, spine care, cancer treatment, surgical procedures, and intensive care. It is the largest among the Baptist Health South Florida network of hospitals. Even though the six figure salaries reported for nurses often include overtime work, nurses at Baptist Health South Florida still make a substantial hourly wage according to salary survey reports.

Glassdoor.com shows salaries for a sampling of registered nurses at the hospital. The highest paid registered nurse category is the emergency room department nurses, and they can earn up to $40.00 per hour. Critical care nurses are the next well paid category of nurses at Baptist Hospital in Miami, and they can earn up to $35.00 per hour. Intensive care unit nurses at the hospital can earn $29.00 per hour. Pulmonary nurses at Baptist Hospital in Miami earn an average of $24.00 per hour. South Miami Hospital’s registered nurses also rank high in the salary department. Neonatal intensive care unit nurses can earn $37.00 per hour. Critical care nurses earn an average of $31.00 per hour.

St Helena Hospital

St Helena Hospital in Northern California is a non-profit hospital that specializes in pulmonary care, emergency services, surgical procedures, and addiction recovery services. For cardiac and vascular nurses, St Helena Hospital ranks high for nursing salaries. Registered nurses in this category can make up to $47.00 per hour.

St. Joseph’s Healthcare System

St. Joseph Healthcare system is a group of hospitals specializing in respiratory care, pain management, rehabilitation, and laboratory services. The individual hospitals included within the St Joseph Healthcare system are St Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Wayne Hospital, and St. Vincent’s Nursing Home. According to salary surveys, registered nurses can earn up to $39.00 per hour.

Kaiser Foundation Hospitals

Kaiser Permanente hospitals based in Oakland California are a part of the Kaiser Foundation Group. The Kaiser hospitals are non-profit entities operating nationwide. Some of its hospitals include Oakland Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente Hearing Center, and Kaiser Permanente Fresno Medical Center. Registered nurses working for Kaiser Foundation hospitals earn some of the highest salaries in the industry. Salary surveys report that these nurses can earn up to $120,000 a year with opportunities for bonuses.
